Offshore exploration and extraction

With vast untapped reserves, Myanmar has potential as a major exporter of coal and natural gas. As international companies bid to explore Myanmar’s offshore oil and gas fields, Eden Energy will expand its existing exploration and extraction operations in the M2 offshore block.

Onshore, although coal currently only fills two percent of Myanmar’s energy needs, the government plans to increase the country’s total energy mix tenfold to 20 percent by 2030. Eden Energy’s Tikyit Coal Mine in Shan State is Myanmar’s largest coal mine and places Eden Energy as the top player in commercial mining and extraction of coal.
