Powering Myanmar

The Myanmar government’s National Electrification Plan is a far-reaching project that will require US$30 billion of new investment. Power distribution (i.e. street level power lines and transformers) is its first priority; the World Bank recently provided the Myanmar government with a US$400 interest-free loan to update power distribution, along with further support from International Finance Corporation, the Japan International Cooperation Agency and other development groups.
